Moon Palace, Paul Auster

“I had jumped off the edge, and then, at the very last moment, something reached out and caught me in midair. That something is what I define as love. It is the one thing that can stop a man from falling, powerful enough to negate the laws of gravity.”

This book is about the story of a man, Marco Stanley Fogg, and his journey through New York and  the Midwest of the USA. In this journey he discovers a lot about himself and his origins and meets a lot of people. He lives in a friend's house, then in Central Park as a homeless, again with his friend and with an old blind disabled man who teaches him a lot about life. After all this adventures, he travels through the USA to find out about his origins.

For me it is a great novel, simple at first and very complex in the end. It makes you reflect on things such as life, death, existence...etc.  It has a lot of references to philosophy and self-discovery and some people has even found similarities with the autor's life. It is considered a very important post-modern novel.
